U.S. Confirms Increased Military Deployment Near Iran

Feb 17, Kathmandu - The United States has confirmed an escalation in military presence around Iran.

Satellite images have verified that the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has approached Iran. The vessel is currently situated close to the coast of Oman, approximately 700 kilometers from Iran.

Washington's move comes amid heightened military pressure alongside diplomatic negotiations, following Iran's nuclear program developments and recent protests. The United States has been taking a firm stance and increasing military activities in the region.

Meanwhile, a second round of talks between American and Iranian officials is set to begin on Tuesday in Geneva. Iran has stated that the discussions will focus on its nuclear program and the potential removal of economic sanctions imposed by the U.S. However, Washington has indicated a willingness to discuss other issues as well.

The USS Abraham Lincoln is equipped with three guided missile destroyers, F-35 fighter jets, and carries nearly 90 aircraft and 5,680 personnel.

Since its deployment in late January to the Gulf region, the ship had not been clearly visible in satellite images until now. The latest reports suggest the vessel is active near the maritime area of Oman.
