Kathmandu Police Ordered Four-Day Detention for Medical Practitioner Durga Prasai Amid Election-Related Rumor Spread

Feb 17, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Metropolitan Police has authorized a four-day detention for medical professional Durga Prasai. The police detained Prasai for allegedly spreading rumors that threaten peace and security during the election period.

Prasai, also the coordinator of the National, Nationality, Religion, and Culture Preservation Campaign, was taken into custody from Thimi, Bhaktapur, on Monday evening.

This is not the first time Prasai has been detained for spreading false information; previously, he was arrested on similar charges but was later released on bail. Prasai has publicly expressed intentions to shut down activities indefinitely and prevent elections if government agreements are not fulfilled.
