Election Police Protest in Humla Over Reduced Services and Pay Discrepancies

Feb 17, Kathmandu - Election police in Humla staged a protest outside the District Administration Office today, citing reduced service facilities and dissatisfaction with their current pay. The officers, voicing their grievances, chanted slogans and demonstrated to demand better services and pay.

District Chief Officer Tek Kumar Regmi stated that the election police raised concerns about their service facilities and that efforts are underway to address their complaints. He assured that the issues surrounding the dissatisfaction of the election police are being looked into.

A total of 595 election police personnel have been deployed in Humla for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

The protesting election police claimed that they are receiving lower salaries than initially promised, which prompted their demonstration. However, Officer Regmi clarified that, according to regulations, they are entitled to the services and benefits as per the law.
