Child Injured in a Shooting in Sarlahi

Feb 19, Kathmandu - A 15-year-old boy was injured by gunfire today in the district headquarters of Malangwa. The incident occurred in Malangwa Municipality-4, where the boy, Akash Ram, son of Rambishwas Ram, was shot while playing with a discarded pistol.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai of the District Police Office, the boy was found at Dhaka Border and was injured after the firearm accidentally discharged during play. It was later revealed that inside a corner of the under-construction Hanuman Temple in Dhaka Border, a firearm wrapped in red cloth was discovered. The police suspect it was a fake pistol, which accidentally went off while being tested.

The injured boy is currently receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Malangawa and is reported to be out of danger.

This incident follows a recent shooting in Malangwa last Sunday, Falgun 3, which resulted in the death of Sub-Engineer Pramod Kumar Yadav, an employee at the Infrastructure Development Office in Siraha. The police are investigating whether the same weapon was used in that incident as well.
