Feb 26, Kathmandu - Rabi Lamichhane, the leader of the Rastrya Swatantra Party, asserted that his party does not believe in violence. Speaking at a rally in Gorkha’s district headquarters, Lamichhane condemned the destruction of structures during recent protests, stating, “We do not take pride in the burning of structures. RSP (his party) has never believed in violence.”
He emphasized that his party does not engage in politics based on religion or territory. Recalling incidents during the Gen-Z movement, where shootings and subsequent destruction of structures occurred, Lamichhane warned against the dangers of religious conflicts.
“If seeds of conflict are sown in the name of religion, look at the devastating outcomes,” he said, citing ongoing religious wars in various countries. “Our principle is to respect every caste, religion, and community that believes in peace.”
Comparing the electoral process to the Mahabharata, Lamichhane urged voters to distinguish between the Kauravas and Pandavas. He also mentioned that he declined a proposal to become Prime Minister, reaffirming his commitment to his principles.
