Citizens from 74 Countries are Working in Nepal's Development and Service Sectors

Feb 27, Kathmandu - The involvement of foreign nationals is increasing in Nepal's construction sector, from health to education.

According to the Department of Labor, Employment and Occupational Safety, citizens of 74 countries, including China, India, the US, the UK and Canada, are working on various projects in Nepal with work permits.

According to the department, a total of 2,559 foreigners obtained work permits in the last fiscal year 2081/82. Of these, 892 people obtained new work permits and 1,667 renewed them.

By the end of Magh of the current fiscal year, 1,166 people have obtained permits. The largest number of Chinese nationals are Chinese nationals.

According to the Department's Director General Chakrapani Pandey, about 1,600 Chinese nationals work in Nepal every year. Similarly, more than 100/100 citizens from the UK and Japan are also active in various projects.
