Feb 27, Kathmandu - Prime Minister Sushila Karki welcomed the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, His Excellency Zhang Maoming, at Singha Durbar on Friday.
During the courtesy meeting, Prime Minister Karki congratulated Ambassador Zhang on his appointment and extended best wishes for a successful tenure. She expressed confidence that the ambassador would effectively carry out his responsibilities and play a vital role in elevating the friendly relations between Nepal and China.
Ambassador Zhang Maoming thanked Prime Minister Karki for making time despite his busy schedule for the cordial meeting. He also congratulated the government of Nepal on maintaining peace, security, and the rule of law, ensuring a peaceful environment for upcoming elections. The ambassador reaffirmed China's ongoing support and cooperation in Nepal’s democratic processes.
Prime Minister Karki reciprocated by expressing gratitude for China's continuous goodwill and assistance during Nepal’s electoral journey. She also appreciated the support received from China for various development projects and partnership opportunities, emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation for the Nepali people.
The two leaders exchanged New Year greetings (Year of the Horse), celebrating the cultural, geographical, and historical bonds that connect the two nations. Prime Minister Karki reiterated Nepal’s adherence to the Panchsheel principles, its One-China policy, and its commitment to not engaging in activities that could harm neighboring countries.
Highlighting regional stability, she stressed that instability in one country could have repercussions for others, emphasizing the need for strengthened cooperation for regional peace and stability.
Ambassador Zhang Maoming expressed gratitude on behalf of the Chinese people and leadership for Nepal’s firm stance on these policies and principles.
