Nepal Police Club Reaches Jay Trophy cricket Final

Feb 27, Kathmandu - Nepal Police Club has entered the final of the Jay Trophy Cricket. Police will play the final after defeating Bagmati Pradesh in the last match of the league stage held on Friday.

Police achieved the target of 89 runs set by Bagmati in the second innings for the loss of 2 wickets in the third session. Sohail Kunwar scored an unbeaten 35 runs for Police. Shankar Rana scored 27 runs while Karan KC scored an unbeaten 25 runs.

Rijan Dhakal and Sandeep Lamichhane took 1 wicket each for Bagmati.

Earlier, while chasing the lead of 149 runs made by Police in the second innings, Bagmati was all out for 237 runs. Ishan Pandey top-scored with 80 runs while Bibek Magar scored 45 runs. Surya Tamang remained unbeaten on 30 runs.

Police's Lalit Rajbanshi took 5 wickets for 84 runs in 26.2 overs. Rashid Khan took 3 wickets and Karan KC took 1 wicket.

Batting first after losing the toss, Bagmati Pradesh scored 185 runs in the first innings after being all out in 53.5 overs.

From a miserable situation of 84-8, Bipin Acharya scored 46 not out, Surya Tamang scored 24 and Gautam KC scored 21 runs to reach a respectable total. Before that, Ishan Pandey scored 41 runs.

Police's Karan KC took 4 wickets for 27 runs in 13 overs. Lalit Rajbanshi took 3 and Sagar Dhakal, Rashid Khan and Kushal Bhurtel took 1 wicket each.

In reply, Police declared their innings with a lead of 149 runs after playing 70 overs in the first innings at 334-8. Kushal Bhurtel scored 96 runs for Police.

Arif Sheikh scored 53 and Dilsad Ali scored 51 runs. Shankar Rana scored 48 runs. Amit Shrestha scored 39 runs. Karan KC remained unbeaten on 29 runs.

Police lost one match and won two in the competition. Police will play Army for the title.
