Two Polling Staff Detained in Chitwan for Alleged Election Code Violation

Mar 05, Kathmandu - Police have detained two polling staff members in Chitwan on charges of violating election conduct rules. The authorities took action after reports emerged that they solicited votes in favor of a particular political party at the polling station.

According to the Chitwan District Police Office, a staff member stationed at the Madi Intermediate School polling center in Madi Municipality, Chitwan-3, allegedly urged voters to cast their ballots in favor of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) by requesting them to vote with the party’s election symbol. Following this information, the staff member was swiftly taken into custody.

In addition, another staff member was also reportedly detained for engaging in activities contrary to the election code of conduct. The police have stated that further investigation is underway and that legal proceedings will be initiated as necessary.

Meanwhile, the administration reported that voting at other centers across the district is proceeding peacefully. Security measures have been increased, and authorities have issued a warning that anyone violating the election code of conduct will face appropriate action.
