Protracted Victory for Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Rukum East: Major Lead in Counting

Mar 06, Kathmandu - Nepali Communist Party (NCP) leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has secured a decisive victory with a significant margin in the ongoing election count. As of now, he has garnered 8,747 votes, leading by a substantial margin over his closest rival.

Lilimani Gautam of CPN-UML, who is in second place, has received 3,017 votes. A total of 15,823 votes have been counted so far, out of the 19,188 votes cast in the constituency. With 3,365 votes yet to be counted, Prachanda maintains a lead of 5,460 votes over his rivals.

The final results and official declaration are pending, but the lead suggests Prachanda’s imminent victory. He has been actively campaigning, including a tour of Rukum East to register his candidacy. Previously, in the 2079 parliamentary elections, Prachanda was elected from Gorkha-2 constituency with the support of a five-party alliance, securing 26,103 votes.
