Harka Sampang Wins Nepali Parliament Seat from Sunsari-1

Mar 08, Kathmandu - Harka Sampang, the Chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, has been elected as the Member of Parliament from Sunsari-1. Sampang secured 35,741 votes, defeating his closest rival, Goma Tamang of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), by a margin of 8,492 votes. Tamang received 27,249 votes.

Tikarama Limbu of the CPN (UML) also contested, garnering 6,463 votes in the race. The election in this constituency involved a total of 26 candidates from 19 parties and seven independent candidates. Out of 150,393 registered voters across 27 wards in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, Baraha Kshetra, and Radhuni, 87,865 votes were cast.

This victory marks the second parliamentary seat for the Shram Sanskriti Party, following Aaryan Rai’s win from Khotang-1 in the previous elections.
