Sudan Gurung Likely to Win Gorkha-1 Election as Vote Counting Continues

Mar 09, Kathmandu - As vote counting progresses in the House of Representatives election, the victory of Rastriya Swatantra Party's Sudan Gurung in Gorkha-1 constituency appears almost certain. Out of over 64,000 votes cast, more than 53,000 votes have been counted, with Gurung securing 24,051 votes.

His closest rival, Nepali Congress candidate Prem Kumar Khatri, has received only 13,511 votes. With less than 10,500 votes remaining to be counted, Gurung's lead exceeds 10,500 votes.

Even if all remaining votes go to Khatri, Gurung is poised to win comfortably. In third place is Haryaraj Adhikari of CPN, with 10,231 votes, followed by RC Lamichhane of UML with 3,080 votes.
