Two Teen Sisters Found Dead Near Sani Bheri River

Mar 10, Kathmandu - Rukum West's Banphikot Rural Municipality-3, near Bhagle, has been rocked by a tragic incident as the bodies of two teenage girls were discovered in the Sani Bheri River.

According to the District Police Office of Rukum West, the bodies were found this morning in two separate locations, approximately 500 meters apart.

Police Inspector Hari Prasad Pun confirmed that the identities of the deceased have been established. The victims are 14-year-old Kalpana Oli and 12-year-old Urmila Oli, residents of Garalagoth in Banphikot Municipality. The bodies were recovered floating along the riverbank of the Bheri River.

Inspector Pun stated that the girls had left their homes Monday evening, heading to a neighbor's wedding. They went missing on their way back from the celebration. Their companion, 13-year-old Sapana Oli, remains unaccounted for.

Authorities suspect that the river may have swept the girls away while returning home. A police team led by Inspector Pun has been dispatched to the scene, and additional personnel from the Chhinkhet temporary police post have also been deployed.

Further details about the incident are awaited, and an investigation is currently underway.
