Mar 10, Kathmandu - The Mumbai High Court has ruled in favor of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra in a case concerning her personality rights. The court ordered the removal of all content that uses her name, voice, image, or personality without her permission.
Shetty had filed a petition claiming that various websites, social media platforms, and AI platforms were misusing her image and identity by publishing AI-generated morphed images, videos, and other content without consent. During the hearing, the court described such content as "highly objectionable and unacceptable," directing immediate removal.
According to her lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, using a person's name or image for commercial gain without permission constitutes an attack on their reputation and rights, prompting legal action.
This is not the first time personalities from Bollywood have successfully fought for their rights; notable figures like Kajol, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Abhishek Bachchan, and Salman Khan have previously secured relief in similar cases.
Shilpa Shetty had filed her petition at the Mumbai High Court in November 2025 to safeguard her personality rights.
