Mar 10, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Valley is likely to continue experiencing poor air quality for the next few days, as heavy rainfall is not expected in the immediate future, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology's Weather Forecast Division.
Senior Meteorologist and Department Spokesperson Bibhuti Pokharel mentioned that the current atmospheric conditions are expected to remain for the next three days, after which an improvement in weather is anticipated. She also indicated that weather across the country is expected to change gradually in the coming days. Light rainfall is possible in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Madhesh, and Lumbini provinces.
The department has also forecasted light rain and thunderstorms, along with snow in hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in some parts of Terai in Lumbini Province.
With air pollution levels rising sharply in Kathmandu and some other cities, the Ministry of Health has issued an urgent advisory, urging residents to avoid outdoor activities unless absolutely necessary, due to the serious health risks associated with poor air quality.
