Mar 12, Kathmandu - The National Women’s Commission and the National Dalit Commission have jointly urged relevant authorities to take strict action against those involved in the murder of Inisha BK, ensure justice for the victim, and hold law enforcement accountable for effective implementation of laws.
In a joint statement issued today, both commissions demanded that the perpetrators be prosecuted rigorously, the victim’s family be provided security and appropriate compensation, and justice be served promptly.
The commissions also emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the increasing violence and discrimination against women, Dalits, and adolescent girls in various parts of the country, including Rautahat and Parsa.
Inisha BK, a 16-year-old girl originally from Gurubhakat Municipality-6, Surkhet, and currently residing in Birendranagar-1, was found unconscious near Shahid Park in Birendranagar on the morning of Sunday. She was taken to the district hospital in Kalagaun, where doctors declared her dead. Her family filed a complaint at the Surkhet District Police Office on Fagun 25, alleging that Inisha was subjected to gang rape before her death. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that she was murdered following sexual assault.
Four individuals have been detained in connection with the case. The commissions expressed deep sorrow over this heinous incident, which they say challenges the very fabric of human civilization.
