Mar 13, Kathmandu - Preparations for the second Sports, Agriculture, and Tourism Festival scheduled to commence from Falgun 29 are gaining momentum. The festival is being organized by the Makwanpur District Sports Development Committee and will be held at TCN Chowk, Hetauda-10.
Rajkumar Moktan, Chairman of the Makwanpur District Sports Development Committee, stated that the festival is being organized to restore physical damages caused during the Gen-Z movement, purchase sports materials, and promote the development of the sports sector.
Currently, work is underway on constructing stalls, fencing the festival area, and repairing the sports competition venues. Moktan added that the funds remaining from the festival will be used to build a sports development office building and purchase sports equipment. The estimated cost of organizing the festival is around NPR 8 million.
The festival will feature national women's volleyball, national taekwondo, district-level men's volleyball, badminton, and karate competitions. Additionally, a 10-kilometer race for men and women will be conducted. Cultural programs showcasing various ethnic groups' traditions will also be part of the event.
Organizers have announced that ten individuals involved in sports activities will be honored with a cash prize of NPR 25,000 each. The Sports Development Committee has previously organized similar festivals, and the remaining funds from the event will be allocated to a fund dedicated to the welfare of athletes.
