Mar 15, Kathmandu - Sujata Shah, the sister of senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and future Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen), has said that Nepal-India relations will improve under Balen's prime ministership.
Speaking on the Hindi version of the British world channel BBC recorded four days ago, Sujata, who is four years older than Balen, who got married in India, said that Nepal-India relations will improve. She said, "His sister, I am in India. We have good relations with India. Because our relations between Nepal and India are centuries old. No one can come and break them. As you said, it was only a matter of a short time that the relations deteriorated. Now everything will be good and positive. His words with Modi were also positive. I was happy to hear that."
During the conversation, Sujata said that she never found Balen as a political creature and that Balen is still not a political leader. "I never see him as a leader," Sujata said, "He is not a political leader either. You can also see his speeches, they are not like those of a leader. He is a person who goes his own way.’
Sujata said that she did not disturb him much during the elections and called him only on the day of voting, suggesting that Balen’s love of rap may have been influenced by his father, who is also an Ayurvedic physician at home. Balen, who went to study in India after the 2015 earthquake, wanted to become a structural engineer so that the structure would not collapse due to the earthquake, Sujata said. She said, ‘He likes the culture and people of Bangalore.’
Sujata said that the rapper helped her become mayor, but she never imagined that she would become the prime minister. She said, "When he became mayor, all the improvements he made, the preservation of old monasteries and culture, after seeing all that, I thought – he could be the guardian who will elevate the country to its present state."
