Eight Prominent Figures Demand Release of Report on Bhadra 23-24 Incident from Nepali Government

Mar 15, Kathmandu - Eight distinguished individuals have submitted a formal request to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, demanding the immediate release of the report conducted by the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission. The commission, appointed to investigate the events of Bhadra 23 and 24, submitted its findings to Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Falgun 24, but the government has yet to make the report public.

The petitioners, citing the Right to Information Act, 2064, have called on the government to provide a copy of the report, emphasizing its importance for public awareness and transparency. Although they learned through public channels that the report was submitted to the Council of Ministers, they could not locate it on Nepal’s official government website.

"The report is a crucial document connected to public interest, and we believe it should be accessible to all citizens for study and analysis," the petition states. "Therefore, we request the provision of a copy or digital version of the report in accordance with Sections 3, 4, and 7 of the Right to Information Act."

The petition was filed by eight prominent individuals linked to ‘Pakaharu Ko Chautari, Magargau’ in New Baneshwor. The signatories include Dr. Keshav Chandra Sharma, Pushpa Prasad Luintel, Binod Prasad Bhandari, Dr. Jagta Kumar Bhusal, Dr. Jagdish Chandra Baral, Kailashnath Kharel, Dwarika Prasad Sharma, and Radha Krishna Poudyal.
