Mar 15, Kathmandu - The Nepali government has announced its decision to accept the report of the Commission of Inquiry regarding the incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24. The decision was made during a Sunday cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar. Government spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal confirmed that the cabinet will review the findings of the inquiry report. Further details are expected to be made public on Monday.

In addition, the cabinet has recommended to the President to appoint Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal as a member of the National Assembly to fill a vacant seat.

The meeting also emphasized the urgent need to provide relief and rescue operations for Nepali citizens stranded in war-affected Western Asian countries and transit points. Currently, the Nepalese embassies and consulates in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait City, Muscat, Islamabad, Cairo, and Jeddah and Dubai will coordinate necessary arrangements to ensure effective assistance.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved the acceptance of a grant of USD 2.4267 million from the Green Climate Fund through the United Nations Development Programme. The funds will be utilized for projects aimed at reducing the risks of glacial lake outburst floods and climate-induced flooding in Nepal’s glacier basin regions, thereby protecting livelihoods and property from climate-related disasters.
