Protest Erupts in Kankarbhitta Demanding Strict Punishment for Inisha BK's Murder and Sexual Assult

Mar 16, Kathmandu - On Monday, March 16, residents of Kankarbhitta gathered in protests to demand severe legal action against those responsible for the brutal murder and sexual assault of Inisha BK from Surkhet.

Led by the Progressive Youth Club Dhulabari, a protest rally started from Hanuman Mandir premises in Kankarbhitta, circling various parts of the town before culminating at the eastern entrance with a vigilance assembly.

The rally saw participation from students, teachers, human rights activists, representatives of organizations, and media personnel from different schools in Mechinagar Municipality. Participants carried placards with slogans such as “Punish the culprits harshly,” “End violence and killings,” and “A society where daughters live in fear is a failed society.”

During the gathering, Ambika Bhandari, Vice President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Koshi Province, teacher Subhadra Bhattharai, human rights activists Radha Pradhan and Puja Sapkota, along with human rights worker Binay Karki, called for an impartial investigation and maximum punishment for the perpetrators.

They also urged the government to ensure justice for the victim, emphasizing that such heinous crimes increase societal insecurity and must be met with strict action.
