Mar 20, Kathmandu - Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed strong support for Qatar on Thursday following a high-level telephonic conversation with the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During the call, the Prime Minister extended warm Eid greetings to the Amir and the people of Qatar. However, the conversation also addressed the escalating security concerns in the Gulf. Taking to the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi stated that India stands in firm solidarity with Qatar and "strongly condemns" the recent attacks targeting the region’s critical energy infrastructure.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions that have threatened global energy supplies. Highlighting India's strategic interests, he emphasized the necessity of "safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz," a vital maritime chokepoint for international trade and energy shipments.
PM Modi also expressed his gratitude to the Qatari leadership for the continued care and support extended to the large Indian community residing in the country. He concluded by voicing India's hope for the restoration of peace and stability in the region.
