Free Health Care for 1,619 Patients

Mar 21, Kathmandu - In a remarkable display of community healthcare, more than 1,600 residents participated in a two-day free health camp organized by the Diktel Rupakot Majuwa Gadhi Municipality in Khotang district. The event aimed to provide accessible, high-quality medical services to local citizens across various villages.

The health camp, held at the District Ayurveda Hospital in Diktel, was conducted in collaboration with Om Hospital and Research Center Pvt. Ltd., Kathmandu, and Garima Development Bank. The initiative was designed to offer specialized medical services—ranging from general surgery and gynecology to orthopedics, dentistry, mental health, and dermatology—right in the residents' hometowns.

Municipal Chief Tirtharaj Bhattarai emphasized the importance of delivering expert healthcare locally, stating, “This extensive health camp was organized to ensure that citizens suffering from various ailments receive timely and quality treatment without traveling far.”

A team of 38 specialists, including Dr. Anand Prasad Shrestha, the head of Om Hospital and Research Center Kathmandu, provided the services. Local health workers and staff from the municipality supported the smooth operation of the camp, ensuring that every individual received proper health check-ups and treatment.

The organizers reported that the camp exceeded expectations, reaching 119 more beneficiaries than initially targeted, thereby making a significant impact on community health.

This successful initiative highlights the district’s commitment to improving healthcare access and underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in strengthening rural health services.
