PM Modi Speaks with King of Bahrain: Condemns Attacks on Energy Infrastructure and Discusses West Asia Stability

Mar 21, Kathmandu - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level telephonic discussion with His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain on Friday, March 20, 2026. Beyond exchanging festive greetings for Eid al-Fitr, the two leaders addressed the escalating tensions in West Asia and their ripple effects on the global economy.

PM Modi expressed deep concern over the current situation in West Asia, strongly condemning recent attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure. 

The Prime Minister underscored that such disruptions pose a direct threat to global food, fuel, and fertilizer security, which are critical for international stability.

Both leaders reiterated the necessity of maintaining freedom of navigation and ensuring that vital shipping lines remain open and secure for global trade.

PM Modi extended his gratitude to the King for his steadfast support and care toward the Indian community residing in Bahrain.
