Corruption Scandal Erupts at Hetauda Transport Office: Officials Busted for Accepting Bribes

Mar 26, Kathmandu - Hetauda Metropolitan City Transport Office official Amrit Bhetuwal and financial clerk Khagendra Poudel have been charged with corruption, according to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The commission filed the charges in a special court on Thursday.

Based on a complaint that they demanded bribes from service seekers under the pretense of facilitating vehicle registration approvals, a team dispatched from Hetauda apprehended both officials while accepting a bribe of NPR 11,500. 

Further investigation revealed that Bhetuwal and Poudel colluded to negotiate and accept bribes from service applicants, with both parties agreeing to the exchange. The ACC confirmed that the officials were caught in the act after confirming the bribery scheme.

The commission has pressed charges under the Anti-Corruption Act, 2059. Bhetuwal faces demands for a fine and imprisonment for accepting the bribe amount of NPR 11,500, while Poudel is also accused of receiving the same amount, with corresponding legal actions initiated against him.
