Key Nepali Congress Leaders Hold Crisis Meeting Amid Ramesh Lekhak’s Arrest

Mar 28, Kathmandu - Leaders from the Nepali Congress’s dissenting faction, Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dr. Shekhar Koirala, are reportedly engaged in crucial discussions following the arrest of party leader Ramesh Lekhak.

The meeting comes in the wake of the implementation of the Gen-Z Movement investigation report, which led to Lekhak’s detention. Sources indicate that the leaders are deliberating on the recent developments within the party.

“A discussion is underway in Kathmandu regarding Ramesh Lekhak’s arrest, which is a significant issue right now,” a Congress leader said.

Lekhak, a prominent figure during the Gen-Z Movement, previously served as the Home Minister. Notably, former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was also detained on Saturday in connection with the ongoing investigations.

Following Lekhak’s arrest, there has been increased demand within the party for an official stance. Meanwhile, the establishment faction is taking a cautious approach, strategizing to speak only after conducting a thorough review.
