Oli-Lekhak's Case on Top Priority, Hearing Today

Mar 29, Kathmandu - The court has scheduled a hearing for the habeas corpus petitions filed by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

Oli's petition is currently before Judge Meghraj Pokhrel's bench, while Lekhak's petition is with Judge Kumar Regmi's bench. Both cases have been prioritized and are expected to have initial hearings today.

On Saturday, Oli's wife, Radhika Shakya, filed the habeas corpus petition on his behalf after Oli was detained from the Gundu area of Bhaktapur. Similarly, Lekhak's wife, Yashoda Lekhak, also submitted a petition.

Oli was taken into custody from Gundu, Bhaktapur, on Saturday. Following health issues after his arrest, he was admitted to TU Teaching Hospital, where he is currently under medical supervision.

The arrests of Oli and Lekhak were made based on allegations related to repression linked to the events of Bhadra 23, following recommendations from the 'Gen-Z Movement Investigation Commission.' Previously, the Kathmandu District Court had permitted their five-day detention for investigation.
