Prime Minister Begins Dialogue with MPs Amid Opposition Boycott Over Unscheduled Meetings

Mar 30, Kathmandu - Nepal's Prime Minister Balen Shah (Balendra) has initiated discussions with Members of Parliament (MPs) to address ongoing parliamentary matters. The Prime Minister held a series of consultations at Singha Durbar, inviting MPs from the provinces of Koshi and Sudurpaschim to participate in the dialogue.

However, the Labour Culture Party, led by Chairman Harka Sampang, has boycotted the meetings. Sampang announced that his party's MPs will not attend any closed-door meetings or informal gatherings without the official convening of the Parliament.

Sampang stated on social media, "The Prime Minister must call the first session of Parliament. We will not participate in meetings held without Parliament being convened. Parliament sessions should be held at least once a week. The government cannot escape questions from the people."

He emphasized that his party's MPs will not attend any unofficial meetings or gatherings unless the Parliament's first session is officially called.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold discussions with representatives from Koshi Province at Singha Durbar on Monday. The Prime Minister's Secretariat had also invited Labour Culture Party MPs for this event.
Chairman Sampang reaffirmed his stance, demanding the immediate convening of the Parliament's first session, asserting, "The Prime Minister must call Parliament’s first session. We will only discuss matters in the official parliamentary sessions. The government must answer all questions posed by the people!"
