Mar 30, Kathmandu - In response to recent online abuse targeting journalist Sanjay Mishra over a news story, the Nepal Journalists Federation has strongly condemned the incident across all levels. Mishra, a reporter for Rato Pati Online News, was subjected to vulgar language, insults, and defamation by social media user iSpot Prabhu.
The Federation, in a joint statement issued by its Central Committee, Madhesh Province Committee, and Rautahat Branch, emphasized that if anyone disagrees with news coverage, they should pursue legal channels rather than resorting to personal attacks on social media. Such behavior not only damages individual reputations but also constitutes a social offense.
The statement was signed by Nepal Journalists Federation General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal, Madhesh Province Secretary Shailendra Mahato Kranti, and Rautahat Branch Secretary Gautham Shrestha.
The Federation called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged authorities to take strict action against the culprits. It also expressed serious concern over the increasing prevalence of such online misconduct.
Sanjay Mishra, a correspondent for Rato Pati.com in Rautahat, was reportedly targeted with offensive language and insults on social media, prompting widespread outrage within the journalist community.
