Case Filed Against Pokhrel for Allegedly Getting a Job by Showing Fake Educational Certificates

Mar 31, Kathmandu - The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against Rajesh Pokhrel for allegedly submitting a forged educational certificate to secure the position of Secretary at the Rastriya Prasaran Grid Company Limited, under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation.

The investigation revealed that Pokhrel, who was appointed as Company Secretary despite lacking the required legal qualification—namely a Bachelor's degree in Law was ineligible for the position. His appointment was subsequently canceled, and benefits and allowances received during his tenure are being reclaimed.

Pokhrel, who holds an MBA rather than the mandated legal degree, allegedly presented false academic credentials to occupy the public office. The CIAA has charged him with causing financial losses amounting to over 10.7 million rupees to the government.

The case has been filed at the Special Court following the investigation into allegations that Pokhrel's fraudulent credentials enabled him to secure the position and misuse public resources.
