Mar 31, Kathmandu - Former Miss Nepal Usha Khadgi has publicly exposed her ongoing family and property dispute with her ex-husband, journalist G.P. Timsina, on social media platform Facebook. Over the course of five consecutive status updates, she claimed to have endured mental harassment and abuse from her ex-husband and called for justice.
According to Usha, the court has divided their house into four parts, granting each of the four stakeholders—herself, her daughter, her son, and her ex-husband—a 25% share. However, she alleges that her ex-husband claims sole ownership of the house and has been pressuring and harassing her to leave. Furious, she wrote in another status, "This coward is torturing me, pushing me out of the house. I won't leave; I will remove him. Let him start, I will finish."
In her third lengthy status, Usha revealed details about her ex-husband’s behavior. She accused him of shamelessly disrespected her in front of their children, even after their divorce, by marrying again and continuing to live in the same house. She also claimed that whenever her relatives or friends visited, her ex-husband would insult and disturb them, forcing her to speak out due to the unbearable situation. Despite the court’s division, she says she has endured constant stress and tension in the house.
Usha also questioned the state’s legal and security systems, demanding her rights and justice from the new government. In another post aimed at her ex-husband’s current wife, she warned him to take responsibility, asserting that she will no longer tolerate interference in her personal life and that she is prepared to seek police protection if necessary.
Amidst all the tension, she posted, "Single mom and proud of myself," emphasizing her strength and dedication to her children’s rights.
Usha and G.P. Timsina, who married in an inter-caste marriage before she became Miss Nepal in 2000, share a son and a daughter. After 17 years of marriage filled with physical and mental abuse, she filed for divorce in 2076 BS. She had previously released a video crying out and affirming her resolve to fight for her rights, saying, "Now I say no."
