Apr 06, Kathmandu - Israel has publicly claimed responsibility for the killing of Majid Khademi, the chief of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence. The Israeli Defense Forces announced on their Telegram channel that they had targeted and eliminated Khademi, describing him as a highly respected and brave commander who dedicated nearly half a century to the Iranian revolution.

This marks a shift from previous incidents, where Iran only acknowledged the deaths of senior commanders after claims by Israel or the United States. Now, Iran has confirmed Khademi's death, prompting Israel to take responsibility.

According to the IRGC, Khademi was one of the top three senior leaders responsible for Iran's intelligence operations. He was appointed as the chief of IRGC's intelligence after the death of Mohammad Kazemi in an Israeli attack on June 15, 2025. Kadhimi had also called for prioritizing the completion of an international internet project to protect Iran's cyber sovereignty.

Iran has been under intense cyber and military pressure since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict that began on February 28, leading to widespread internet disruptions across the country. Despite this, some domestic websites and apps remain accessible within Iran.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant stated that Kadhimi was directly responsible for the deaths of Israeli citizens, emphasizing Israel's resolve to target those involved in plotting attacks against its people.
