Apr 07, Kathmandu - The Karnali Provincial Government has announced six additional public holidays for the upcoming fiscal year 2083, following a decision made during a cabinet meeting held today at Birendranagar, Surkhet.
According to Minister Binod Kumar Shah, the government’s spokesperson and Minister for Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives, the holidays include Chaitra 12 (Rice Day) and Ashwin 22 (Chandanath Temple Rath Yatra).
“However, the holiday on Chaitra 12 is exclusive to Jumla district,” Shah clarified. “Apart from Jumla, nine other districts will observe a public holiday on National Rice Day, which falls on Asadha 15,” he added.
In addition, the government announced holidays on Shrawan 1 for Shrawan Sankranti and Deuda Festival, Bhadra 4 for Province Establishment Day and Martyrs’ Day, and Kartik 8 for Kojagrat Purnima, covering these days across the province.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved amendments to Schedule 2 of the Province Government (Division of Functions) Regulations, 2074, with plans to publish the revised notification in the Provincial Gazette, Shah stated.
