Apr 09, Kathmandu - The appointment of Om Prakash Aryal to the vacant member seat in the National Assembly remains on hold, as the Presidential Office has not yet made a formal decision despite the previous government’s recommendation.
The Sushila Karki-led government had recommended Aryal to the President for nomination on Chaitra 1. However, the process has been embroiled in legal disputes after advocate Manish Kumar Shrestha filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the appointment.
The Supreme Court dismissed the petition on Thursday, but the issue of whether Aryal will be appointed or the recommendation canceled now rests with the President.
Ritesh Kumar Shakya, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated that the recommendation is currently with the office, but the formal appointment process has not yet been completed.
The decision hinges on the President’s discretion, leaving the political and legal community watchful of the next move.
