Health Ministry Urges Hospitals to Operate Six Days a Week Amid New Government Leave Policy

Apr 10, Kathmandu - In response to the government's decision to grant two days off per week, the Ministry of Health and Population has requested hospitals to remain open for six days a week to ensure continuous and effective healthcare services.

According to Deputy Spokesperson Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, hospitals are advised to provide services on Sundays according to their capacity, considering workload and staffing. He emphasized the importance of maintaining outpatient services and urged hospitals to adapt accordingly.

However, in line with the government's directive for one designated day off other than Saturday, Dr. Adhikari appealed, especially in cases where taking a day off is not feasible, and to explore alternative arrangements for leave.

He also requested the health departments of all seven provinces to implement this policy at regional hospitals to ensure uniformity and uninterrupted healthcare services.
