Immigration Department Clarifies: No Need to Present Ticket Receipts at Airport for Nepali Migrant Workers

Apr 11, Kathmandu - The Department of Immigration has announced that Nepali workers traveling abroad for employment are not required to present air ticket bills or payment receipts at the airport.

This clarification comes amid confusion following the Department of Foreign Employment's recent directive, which mandated submission of airline ticket bills and service fee receipts paid to manpower companies. In response, the Immigration Department clarified that travelers only need to carry essential documents such as work permits and passports, and are not obliged to show additional bills or receipts at the airport.

In an official notice, the department emphasized that travelers should only present their work approvals, passports, and other minimum required documents, and no other receipts are necessary.

The department also referred to a notice issued by the Foreign Employment Department on Chaitra 23, which clarified the procedures in accordance with current immigration laws. According to the department, Nepali nationals traveling on a visit visa must possess a valid passport for at least six months, a return air ticket to their destination, and a visa for the destination country.

For those traveling abroad for employment, only basic documents such as work permits and passports are mandatory. The department urged citizens to travel confidently, equipped with the necessary documentation, and to avoid any confusion.

Previously, the Foreign Employment Department had announced that from Chaitra 29, travelers would be required to present airline tickets, bills, and service fee receipts at the airport.
