Apr 11, Kathmandu - A devastating accident occurred on the Kalikot-Karnali highway when an ambulance, en route from Jumla to Nepalgunj with a patient, fell approximately 30 meters off the road, resulting in one death and serious injuries.

The ambulance was transporting 71-year-old Kala Bahadur, a resident of Hima Village Municipality-6, for neurosurgery. Tragically, both the patient’s father and the driver, Shakti Bahadur Shahi, lost their lives in the fall.

The injured Kala Bahadur was immediately taken for initial treatment and is currently admitted to the provincial hospital in Surkhet, where he is reported to have suffered severe leg injuries. 

Poor visibility due to dense fog, narrow roads, and challenging terrain have contributed to frequent accidents along the Kalikot highway, raising concerns among local residents. The community is mourning the loss and calling for urgent safety measures.
