Encroachment on Public Land removed, two houses Demolished in Rautahat

Apr 17, Kathmandu - The Brindaban Municipality of Rautahat has demolished the houses of two people who had been living in the area for years after encroaching on land within its area. It is said that the demolition of two houses was carried out in arrears after the construction of the administrative building under construction of the municipality was obstructed.

The municipality will construct an administrative building with modern facilities in the area. For this, CP Yetialam JV has approved the construction at a cost of Rs 64.655 crore. It is said that the municipality will get 8 kathas of land after vacating 2 kathas of land encroached by locals Shainul Nat and Ram Binay Thakur. After the municipality issued repeated notices, it was agreed to remove the houses by Chaitra 10 in a discussion between the people's representatives, employees and locals on Chaitra 1.

However, contrary to the agreement, they filed a case in the Gaur District Court on Chaitra 18. After that, the court issued a prohibitory order in the name of the municipality. Later, on Chaitra 25, the court dismissed the case of the public, and the house was demolished in the presence of the police administration on Friday. According to Sikendra Patel, chairman of Brindaban Municipality Ward No. 2, the administrative building of the municipality will now be constructed at that location. Although the municipality has 8 kaththas of land, the work could not proceed due to encroachment. Mayor Binod Patel has said that he was forced to demolish the house after repeated requests were ignored.
