RSP Set to Appoint Bhupdev Shah as the General Secretary

Apr 20, Kathmandu - The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is reportedly preparing to appoint Bhupdev Shah as its new General Secretary. According to sources, the proposal to make Shah the General Secretary will be introduced at today’s Central Committee meeting.

“A proposal to appoint him as General Secretary is on the agenda for today's meeting,” a source informed OnlineKhabar. “The meeting is also expected to endorse this proposal.”

Bhupdev Shah, who was previously a Central Member of the party, entered the RSP along with Mayor Balen Shah of Kathmandu Metropolitan City when he stepped down from his mayoral post.

Earlier, Sunil Lamsal served as the General Secretary, with Bhupdev Shah as the Joint General Secretary. Following Lamsal’s assumption of ministerial responsibilities, preparations are underway to elevate Bhupdev Shah to the position of General Secretary, sources said.

Bhupdev Shah, who has served as a key personal secretary and is considered close to Balen Shah, became a Central Member during the party’s unification process.

He was also a candidate in the recent Federal Parliament elections from Achham-2 on Falgun 21 but was not successful.
