Nepal's Eastern Border Closed for 72 Hours

Apr 21, Kathmandu - In view of the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections, the international border crossings between Ilam and Jhapa districts in Nepal have been temporarily closed for 72 hours. The border points will remain shut from Monday evening at 6 PM until the completion of voting on Baisakh 10.

The crossings at Kakadbhitta (Jhapa) and Pashupati Nagar (Ilam) are completely closed for movement during this period. According to the Jhapa District Administration Office, the closures are based on information from the Darjeeling district administration.

Although Darjeeling authorities have not officially issued a formal letter, the closures are being implemented following previous practices and understandings.

Security has been heightened in the closed border areas, with police increasing vigilance to ensure safety and order during this sensitive time.
