Prime Minister to Face Direct Questions in Parliament Every Month

Apr 21, Kathmandu - The draft of the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure submitted to the Speaker of Parliament, D.P. Aryal, reveals that the Prime Minister will now be directly questioned in parliament monthly.

According to the draft, "The Assembly shall designate one hour on a designated day in the first week of each month for questions related to the Prime Minister's personal domain and other important issues. If the meeting cannot be held on that day due to any reason, the first hour of the next scheduled meeting shall be allocated for the same."

The rules specify that the Prime Minister must respond to questions immediately during the session. Notably, since becoming Prime Minister, Balen Shah has yet to speak in the parliament.

Once the rules are adopted, it will be mandatory for MPs to raise questions and receive answers in the parliamentary sessions every month.
