Apr 23, Kathmandu - In a bid to promote tourism in the Sagarmatha region, the Langtang Trail Run is set to take place, organizers announced Thursday. The event, organized by the Rasuwa-Nuwakot Tourism Society, is scheduled for Jestha 23.
Society President Balram Nyaupane revealed that the organization, which has long been active in developing and promoting tourism in the Langtang area, is now focusing on adventure sports tourism with this trail run.
Following the devastating earthquake in 2072 BS, the society has been undertaking various initiatives to revive the affected tourism sector. The upcoming trail run aims to establish Langtang as an international adventure destination.
The race will start from Kanchen Gumba in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality and cover approximately 32 kilometers, reaching Syafrubesi. The course begins at Kanjen Gumba, situated around 3,870 meters above sea level, and passes through Langtang Village and Ghodatabela before concluding at Syafrubesi.
The organizers expect both national and international runners to participate. They believe this trail run will strengthen Langtang’s international recognition, invigorate local tourism businesses, and open new avenues for adventure sports in the region.
