Squatters at RSP Office Demanding to Stop Dozers, Security Tightened (Photos)

Apr 24, Kathmandu - Local residents affected by the government's plan to clear settlements along the riverbanks in the Kathmandu Valley have staged protests. The residents, who oppose the decision to deploy bulldozers for eviction, gathered at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) office on Friday to voice their concerns.

Authorities have increased security measures around the party office, with a heavy presence of security personnel to manage potential tensions arising from the protests.

Following government directives, police commenced microphone announcements in the affected areas from Thursday evening, informing residents to vacate their settlements. The notices specify that residents must leave by Friday evening. The microphone announcements are expected to continue throughout the day, with preparations underway to start bulldozer operations from early Saturday morning.
