Apr 25, Kathmandu - In a significant move toward ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Friday night to hold the second phase of peace negotiations with the United States. This diplomatic effort has sparked hope for reducing tensions and establishing regional stability.
Accompanying Araghchi is a small delegation including spokesperson Esmail Baghaei from the Iranian Foreign Ministry. According to a Pakistani official, the foreign minister is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Asim Munir. There is also a possibility of discussions with American officials, although Iran has not confirmed this.
Meanwhile, the White House confirmed that U.S. Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Donald Trump, will arrive in Pakistan on Saturday for direct talks with the Iranian delegation.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated that Iranian leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Munir, were welcomed by senior officials in Islamabad. Pakistan continues to play a mediating role between Iran and the United States, aiming to promote peace and stability in the region.
An official social media post from the Iranian Embassy mentioned that the foreign minister's visit is focused on bilateral issues and regional developments. Following crucial discussions with Pakistani mediators, it is expected that the second phase of peace talks between Iran and the U.S. will take place in Islamabad. If any agreements are reached, the American delegation is anticipated to arrive by Saturday night.
