Two More Arrested for Unauthorized Access and Tampering in E-Government Procurement System

Apr 26, Kathmandu - Two additional individuals have been detained for allegedly gaining unauthorized access to the E-Government Procurement System under the Office of Public Procurement Monitoring and manipulating details of various contracts.

The arrestees are Swadesh Pokharel, a shareholder and auditor of Inco Pvt. Ltd., and Prakash Dhuangana, director of Kalpvrukshha Builders Pvt. Ltd. They were apprehended by the Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police from different locations.

Earlier, on Baisakh 11, Bikram Pande, director of Kalika Construction Pvt. Ltd., and Tanka Kumar Shrestha, director of Bhishan Construction Pvt. Ltd., were also detained. Pande is a leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and a former minister.

According to police, a total of 13 individuals have been arrested so far in connection with unauthorized access and tampering with the contract details in the e-Government procurement system. The police have stated that investigations are ongoing.
