Apr 28, Kathmandu - New Diamond youth sports club has reached the finals of the Prime Minister Cup Volleyball League after defeating the APF Club in the women's category on Tuesday.
Held at the National Sports Council’s indoor hall in Tripureshwor, New Diamond secured a 3-1 set victory over the departmental team. The match saw New Diamond win the first set 25-21, lose the second 20-25, but bounce back strongly to win the third and fourth sets 25-18 and 25-21 respectively.
With this win, New Diamond accumulated 12 points and tops the standings, while APF, with four games played, has six points.
In the women’s category, Tribhuvan Army Club recorded their first victory by defeating Sudurpaschim Province in straight sets — 25-15, 25-10, and 25-5.
In the men's matches held on Tuesday, Khilji Youth Club triumphed over Koshi Province Volleyball Club with a straight-set victory, 25-19, 25-20, and 27-25.
Organized by the Nepal Volleyball Association, the tournament features six women's teams and eight men's teams that qualified through the Club Championships.
The winning teams in both categories will receive NPR 1 million, runners-up will get NPR 500,000, and the third-place teams will be awarded NPR 250,000, the organizers announced.
