May 01, Kathmandu - The Embassy of India in Nepal has celebrated Buddha Jayanti with a series of vibrant religious and cultural events. Organized in collaboration with the Lumbini Development Trust and Lumbini Buddhist University, the celebration honored the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha at his birthplace.
The festivities brought together devotees, students, and artists to commemorate the "Light of Asia". School students participated in a painting exhibition showcasing themes from Buddha’s life and messages of universal peace. Monks from both India and Nepal joined in collective prayer sessions and peace chants, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
The event concluded with a grand cultural program with a Buddhism-themed Kathak danceperformance by an ICCR troupe led by Deepti Gupta and a soulful musical presentation by a Nepali band, by the renowned sarod maestro Suresh Raj Bajracharya.
The occasion was graced by the Governor of Lumbini Province, Krishna Bahadur Gharti Magar, who served as the Chief Guest. His presence, along with Indian officials, underscored the shared cultural and spiritual heritage that continues to strengthen bilateral ties between India and Nepal.
