May 07, Kathmandu - In a move to enhance transparency and efficiency, the Federal Parliament Secretariat has begun collecting biometric data of MPs for electronic attendance purposes.
The Secretariat aims to record attendance electronically during various parliamentary meetings and sessions, replacing the traditional paper-based attendance system.
The new biometric system will also require MPs to have their official photographs taken, and they are requested to attend sessions in formal attire bearing the Federal Parliament logo.
The biometric data collection process is scheduled to continue until Baisakh 28 (May 11). The Secretariat emphasizes that this initiative marks a significant step towards digitizing parliamentary procedures and ensuring accurate attendance records.
