May 08, Kathmandu - Ukraine launched a drone attack on the administrative building of the Southern Russia Air Navigation Branch, resulting in the suspension of operations at 13 Russian airports, the Russian Transport Ministry announced on Friday.
According to an official statement, the attack targeted the Regional Air Traffic Control Center located in Rostov-on-Don, responsible for managing air traffic in southern Russia. In response, authorities temporarily halted operations at the affected airports to ensure security.
The ministry confirmed that all staff present at the administrative building during the incident are safe. Technical experts are currently conducting a detailed assessment of communication and control systems to determine the extent of any damage.
As a result of the disruption, airlines and airport authorities are coordinating to revise flight schedules and implement necessary adjustments to air traffic management procedures. The attack has significantly impacted air connectivity in southern Russia.
