May 08, Kathmandu - Nepal's A cricket team continued their winning streak in the ongoing tri-nation One Day International (ODI) series against the USA and Scotland, claiming their second consecutive win.
On Friday at the Mulpani Ground, Nepal’s A team defeated ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 leaders USA by 3 wickets. The previous day, they had also emerged victorious against second-placed Scotland.
Chasing a target of 263 runs set by the USA, Nepal achieved the victory with 7 wickets remaining and just 5 balls to spare.
Mayank Yadav starred with the bat, scoring 72 runs off 80 balls, including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. Kushal Malla contributed 33 runs off 49 balls, while Pawan Sarraf remained unbeaten on 24 runs off 15 balls. Bashir Ahmed added 18 runs.
Openers Trirat Raj Das and captain Anil Kumar Sah scored 23 and 27 runs respectively. Dev Khanal scored 17 before Sandip Jora contributed 36 runs in the middle order.
In bowling, USA’s Milind Kumar took 2 wickets.
Earlier, USA posted a formidable total of 262 runs for 8 wickets after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Opener Smit Patel scored an impressive 116 off 108 balls, including 10 fours and 5 sixes. Harmit Singh remained not out on 25 off 23 balls, and Jasdeep Singh added 33 not out off 28 balls.
Nepal used 10 bowlers during the practice match, with Pawan Sarraf claiming 2 wickets.
The series will continue with Nepal facing Scotland on April 26 and the USA on April 28.
Following this series, matches under the ICC World Cup League-2 will be held among Nepal, USA, and Scotland. The USA currently tops the points table, with Scotland in second position.
